I have a long story with Estee Lauder brand but if I include that it will bore you for sure hehe. So no! I have to stop thinking about my first experienced with the brand (positive by the way). As this will never end!
Ok about EL Double Wear, according to Estee Lauder website (AU).
24 hours long wear
Medium but buildable coverage
Natural and semi-matte finish
Formula facts:
Oil-free, Dermatologist-tested
Non-acnegenic; won’t clog pores
Fragrance-free
Here in Australia theres 24 shades with letter coding C=cool, N=neutral and W=warm. From 1 being the lightest and 5 being the darkest
In the US they have 38 shades!!…so unfair isn’t it for a woman like me that can only access with limited colours here in Australia.
My Experienced:
The first time I used it way back 2008, i liked it!! It was my first liquid foundation base for 2-3 yrs until I explore different brands and I became a foundation base addict!!..yes, i admit that crime. Haha!
I repurchased these foundations for a long time now because i thought i’d give it a go. Then the world started bringing new foundations in different brands so I went gaga and these were set aside. But now I took them out and tried it again. This foundation did not this appoint me. However in this review my skin has some dried skin which I forgot to prep the day before. So i only used light moisturiser and a primer underneath.
It definitely has a medium coverage but build able. It doesn’t look natural for me, because I can really tell that I have it on. It actually has a semi-matte finish but the fragrance-free claim..it definitely has a smell there. not fruity or florally..more on a heavy smell but it disappears once it is on your face already. It doesn’t linger.

The picture above, this is the first picture after I applied all my makeup. I used the shade Tawny. The thing is this foundation really will clings to all your dry skin…i had dry skin on my nose which i knew it wasn’t not the right time to do the review but I did it anyway. But aside from that, everything looks good.
The picture above, this was after 4 hours of wear, yes dry area still there. My blush and all were all intact. But no oil peaking through. I went to David Jones to browse on other makeups and I had compliments that my makeup looks good by the Estee Lauder rep and MAC makeup artist..hehe.
So the first picture on the left above was after 10hrs of wear and then the two pictures after that were 13 hours of wear. You can tell the dry patches in some areas but I think for me in person when I was looking at the mirror it still did look good over all. The blush a bit faded-well 13hrs wear what can I say…but hey still looks good..my eyeshadows held up pretty well too. Im impressed! – hey No touch ups!! forehead not oily but around my nose and slightly around my mouth starting to get oily. But we are talking about 13 hrs..hell great yeah?
So would I repurchase this? yes I would!! this foundation is good for oily skin and for those who wants medium to full coverage.
9/10 only because it clings on dry patches. So you need prepping before hand and moisturise your face well.
